Dellinger Takes 2nd Meyer's RV Winged Series Checkered Flag of the Season

By: BAPS Motor Speedway

YORK HAVEN, Pa.: It wasn’t too long ago that Scott Dellinger was the most feared Super Sportsman driver at BAPS Motor Speedway. He was the man to beat week in and week out.

But racing is a funny game. No matter how good you are, there is always someone scratching and clawing to unseat you at the top of the mountain.Kenny Edkin has done that over the last few seasons. So, when Dellinger rolls through the gate for a Super Sportsman main event at BAPS Motor Speedway, he knows overcoming Edkin will be his biggest challenge. These two drivers have had their share of battles. Last week was another chapter in the friendly rivalry, only this time, Dellinger came out on top in the 25-Lap Meyer’s RV Super Sportsman main event during Tip Top Roofing Solutions $1 Hot Dog Night at the speedway.

“It was a good race, and he raced me clean,” Dellinger said. “We’ve raced each other for a lot of years, so you know what to expect.

“To beat him at the beginning of the year is a pretty stellar moment, because they have been on their game the last few years. It’s a feather in our hat to pull something like that off.

”Troy Rhome started on the pole and grabbed the early lead. Dellinger, who started fifth, fell back to sixth on the initial start before surging into fourth by the time the red flag was thrown with six laps down.

The restart was wild. Dellinger wrestled the top spot away from Rhome but only held it for one circuit. Edkin, who started fourth on the grid, shot into the lead on Lap 8 and held it through Lap 13.

Dellinger stalked Edkin before taking the lead back with 11 laps left. Once out front, he drove away from the field and claimed the victory by 3.111 seconds over Edkin.

Jay Fannasy finished third with John Edkin crossing the line in fourth. Rhome held on to complete the top five in the main event.
